Idaho
roadless rule left in tact while Obama administration reverts back to Clinton era roadless rule. Governor, now Idaho Senator Risch,
and former Idaho Office of Species Conservation Director, Jim Caswell,
facilitated and Congress approved the Idaho
roadless plan in 2007, and guess what, most would say it was a job well done. Idaho outfitters
operating in current roadless areas will want to keep up with this developing
story. http://www.idahostatesman.com/localnews/story/787801.html

Opportunity to help elk habitat. “Mr. Simonds, some of the
elk habitat projects scheduled for the North Fork District of GMU 10 this July
will be in remote areas of the Middle Black, Kelly Creek, regions of CNF.Â
It is anticipated that primary contractors will be selected by the Clearwater National Forest in mid to late July. Joseph Peterson of Flying B (an IOGA member)
is in our group that we informally call our "habitat group",
non affiliated, interested facilitators to improve elk habitat. We hope that
outfitters could be involved in getting chain saw crews up there and providing
for them much like a hunting camp. The purpose of this note is to alert IOGA so
interested outfitters could have time to prepare a subcontract. The project is
expected to go from July this year,2009,to snow flies, Nov., and then to carry
over for a full season next year. Joseph has more details. We hope this is
useful information. thanks for your time---------------Clarence Binninger
